USAID unveils action plan for responsible artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI), in its many forms of application, is increasingly being used in countries of the Global South. The U.S. development organization USAID has now presented a 30-page action plan to promote responsible use of the technology.

In this way, its own program work is to be given a framework for action and, in particular, potential negative effects of AI applications are to be addressed at an early stage. In addition, digital ecosystems that are helpful for the responsible development and use of AI are to be strengthened. A third pillar of the action plan envisages USAID becoming more involved in global policy work around AI in the future and working to give developing countries a voice in important global shaping and decision-making bodies.
