At a glance

The foundation was founded by Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and his former wife Melinda Gates. In developing countries it is focussed on improving the health and well-being of people and takes up the fight against hunger and extreme poverty.

In action

As part of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development’s (BMZ) “Artificial Intelligence for All – FAIR Forward” initiative, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) coordinates joint activities to promote open voice data in East Africa and India. The BMGF is involved in the #SmartDevelopmentHack and the digilab “Data vs. COVID-19“ sprint. This was the starting point of a close cooperation as partner of BMZ digilab.
