As a service provider of the international cooperation for sustainable development, GIZ is committed to creating a decent future for people around the world. GIZ has more than 50 years of development cooperation experience, from business development and employment support through to energy and the environment as well as peace and security. GIZ is currently promoting digital innovations in more than 200 international cooperation projects and is working closely together with the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to establish digitalisation as a quality feature and to develop transformative digital initiatives.

In action

GIZ pursues the philosophy of ‘digital by default’: the possibilities provided by digitalisation should be used in all its projects – where this is helpful. Because the digital revolution creates additional potential for development leaps. This particularly applies in fragile countries and disadvantaged regions as well as for groups of the population that were previously excluded from advancements.
