Aissatou Jeanne Ndiaye’s contribution to a fair and inclusive data economy in Africa
Aissatou Jeanne Ndiaye is the Director of ICT at the Ministry of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital Economy in Senegal. In collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Smart Africa, an alliance of 30 African heads of state and government in favour of a digital Africa, she worked on the development of the first national data strategy on the African continent.
The Senegalese data promotes a fair and inclusive data economy while helping to strengthen Senegal’s competitiveness in the digital sector and giving civil society better access to digital markets. Aissatou’s work is an example of this: she is currently developing a data space for agriculture in Senegal. It aims to enable effective agriculture practices in the context of climate change through better utilisation of climate and agricultural data.
By exchanging knowledge on successful and adaptable agricultural practices based on data from business, science and civil society actors. Aissatou Jeanne Ndiaye has little doubt that her work will make a positive contribution to a fair and inclusive data economy that benefits everyone.
